Who you are dealing with
AddSpeech is operated by Digiplan, Christine d'Haenstraat 16, Bruges, Belgium, VAT BE 1025.952.964. Contact: [email protected]. Use of the service constitutes acceptance of these terms. Where you are a consumer, nothing here affects the rights granted to you by law.
What you are buying
Audio from text is purchased one job at a time. The price is calculated from the text submitted and is shown before payment. On payment you receive an audio file.
The microphone widget is a subscription, billed monthly or yearly, with an allowance of fills. A fill is one press of the microphone that produced words. Silence is not counted, and neither is a recording that failed on our side. When the allowance is used up the widget stops until the next period; no additional amount is charged.
Prices and VAT
Prices are shown in euro and are the amount payable. No VAT is added: the business behind AddSpeech sells under the Belgian small-business exemption (article 56bis of the VAT Code), which also means no VAT is stated on your receipt and none can be reclaimed. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. The amount and the date are stated before the first renewal.
If a payment fails it is retried and you are notified. If it continues to fail the subscription is suspended rather than deleted, and nothing is lost while the payment method is corrected.
The audio is yours
Audio produced by the studio belongs to you, including for commercial use. We claim no rights in it and impose no attribution requirement. Text submitted to the service remains yours, is not used for training and is not retained. The details are set out on the privacy page.
What it will and will not do
Speech recognition and speech synthesis are statistical processes. They mishear accents, insert punctuation that was not spoken, misspell names, and can return output that is wrong without indicating any uncertainty. Output should be checked before it is relied upon, and the service must not be used where an error would be dangerous: medical, legal, financial and safety-critical decisions require a person to read the words.
Recognition and synthesis are performed by OpenAI, and their terms apply to the processing they carry out. Any change to that arrangement will be stated on this page before it takes effect.
What you agree not to do
- Clone a person's voice in order to impersonate them, or produce audio intended to be mistaken for a real person saying something they did not say.
- Submit text or audio that you do not have the right to submit.
- Use the service for any purpose that is unlawful where you are, or where your visitors are.
- Install the widget on a site collecting data that requires particular care, such as health data or information about children, without notifying us first so that the appropriate agreement can be put in place.
- Use a key on sites you do not own, or automate the free sample.
Where any of this occurs we will contact you before suspending anything, unless a delay would make the situation worse. You indemnify us against claims arising from content you submitted or from a site on which you installed the widget. We have no access to your website and cannot review it on your behalf.
Cancelling and refunds
A subscription may be cancelled at any time. It remains active until the end of the period already paid for. There is no notice period and no cancellation fee.
If you are a consumer in the EU you have fourteen days to withdraw from a subscription. For one-off audio, the file is produced at the moment of payment: by completing payment you request immediate performance and accept that the right of withdrawal ends once the file has been delivered. A free sample is available before purchase.
If what was delivered is defective, or does not correspond to what the page described, contact us and the amount paid is refunded. This is assessed in your favour rather than by rule.
Interruptions
AddSpeech depends on speech models operated by a third party, which are occasionally unavailable. We do not state a percentage of uptime, because we cannot enforce one upstream. We do undertake to report an incident while it is ongoing, and to credit subscription time lost to a prolonged outage. Anything marked as a preview is exactly that, and should not be placed in front of your customers until it is not.
Liability
We are responsible for our service functioning as described. We are not responsible for the use you make of the audio, for what your visitors say into a microphone you installed, or for indirect loss, including loss of profit, data or business. Where liability may be limited, it is limited to the amount paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not permit to be limited, including liability for death, personal injury, fraud or gross negligence.
Changes
The price of a subscription does not change during a period already paid for. Where these terms or a price change materially, customers are notified by email at least thirty days in advance and may cancel before the change takes effect.
Which law, and where to complain
These terms are governed by Belgian law, and disputes fall to the courts of Belgium. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the law of the country in which you live, and a dispute may also be referred to the Belgian Consumer Mediation Service (consumerombudsman.be) before any court proceedings. Contacting us first is quicker than either.
